Rainbow Connection será preservada pela Biblioteca do Congresso dos EUA

Música ficou famosa por ser cantada pelos Muppets.

A música Rainbow Connection, que se tornou famosa por ser uma canção que geralmente aparece nas produções dos Muppets, e que geralmente é cantada por Kermit, the Frog, foi escolhida como um clássico importante para a cultura norte-americana. Por conta disso, a música será preservada pela Biblioteca do Congresso dos Estados Unidos.

Todos os anos, a instituição seleciona 25 registros, entre alguns, singles e transmissões radiofônicas que são consideradas como tesouros sonoros dignos de serem eternamente preservados, baseados em sua importância cultural, histórica ou estética.

Entre as outras canções selecionadas estão "Celebration" (1980), com o Kool And The Gang, produzida pelo brasileiro Eumir Deodato, "Lady Marmalade" (1974) do Labelle, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" e "What a Wonderful World" na voz de Israel Kamakawiwo'ole (1993) e "When The Saints Go Marching In" com Louis Armstrong (1938).

A primeira vez que a música apareceu para o grande público foi no ano de 1979, na estreia do primeiro filme dos Muppets. A canção foi escrita por Paul Williams e Kenny Ascher e acabou sendo indicada ao Oscar de Melhor Canção no ano de 1979. O single dessa música alcançou o 25º lugar na parada "Hot 100 Singles" da Billboard em 1979.
